General Scholarship Information

The Moore County Cattleman’s Association is offering scholarships in the amount of $1,000-$5,000 for students who:

The Moore County Cattleman’s Association Scholarship seeks to recognize and provide financial assistance to students with an interest in agriculture; a background, interest in, or career plans with the cattle industry will receive additional consideration in the review of applications.

  1. Will be entering their first year of college, have a major related to the growing and/or feeding of forage to livestock; are attending an accredited 4-year university in the United States. 
  2. What majors might qualify?
    Agronomy, Plant genetics, Rangeland ecology, Plant pathology, Entomology, Dairy science, Animal Science, Soil Science, Biosystems Engineering, Agricultural Engineering, Agricultural Sustainability, Ecosystem sciences. Regardless of the major, the student must show a connection to/interest in growing and/or feeding of forages/livestock.

Who should apply?

This scholarship is for undergraduate college students who: 

  • Will be in their sophomore, junior or senior year during the semester for which the scholarship is awarded.
  • Have a major related to growing and /or feeding of forage to livestock.
  • Have a major in agricultural sustainability, animal science.
  • Are attending an accredited 4-year university in the United States.
  • Have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher on a 4-point scale (or comparable average on a different scale).


When are applications due?

Completed applications are due on April 1 each year.

When will the scholarships be awarded? 

The scholarship will be awarded by August 1 each year.

We are now a 501 (c) (3) non-profit, public charity, IRC SECTION 170(b)(1)(A)(vi)

1. We are accepting tax-deductible bequests, devises, transfers, or gifts under section 2055, 2016, or 2522, to support future education for individuals interested in pursuing studies in the agricultural field, forage-livestock profession, contributions to the Moore County Cattleman’s Association Scholarship fund are welcome.

2. All Contributions are tax-deductible and 100% of contributions will be applied toward scholarships.
